Equine Jogging shoe models

Not sure which model Jogging shoe will be best for your horse/pony?

There are many factors to consider when deciding which Jogging Shoe will be best for your horse. Here are a few of the most important ones:

1. Hoof size and shape
This is the most important element when deciding on a hoof boot model. If your horse has very small or very large hooves or a more oblong hoof then you may be limited to certain models. Also, if the hoof is misshapen due to laminitis or other hoof conditions, this may also affect boot choice.

2. Intended use
This is also a very important consideration when choosing a boot model. The thickness of the sole and the properties of the uppers can influence the decision here.

3. Physical limitations
This can be important for both the person and the horse. If you have arthritis or your horse can only hold the hoof up for short periods of time then ease of use will be a big factor.

The names of the Jogging Shoes can also be confusing! Here is a little history that may help them make more sense:

  • The Ultra was the first model made by Equine Fusion.
  • Then came the Performance.
  • Next was the Ultimate, and so far the names were pretty straightforward.
  • But then came the All Terrain, which replaced the Performance, but also was the first model to have a thicker sole with a deeper tread pattern.
  • Next came the All Terrain Ultra, which was a combination of the All Terrain sole paired with the Ultra upper.
  • Then came the Active which was a redesign of the All Terrain (identical sole with an improved upper).
  • The newest riding model is the Trekking Shoe which also has the All Terrain sole but it has a more open, water-repelling upper made of SuperFabric®.
  • There is also another new model the Recovery which has been specifically designed as a turnout and trailering boot. It also has the All Terrain sole.
  • And, not forgetting the 24/7 which is a glue-on boot, also with the All Terrain sole.

Going forward, the name All Terrain now refers to the sole type as the All Terrain model itself has been discontinued. The Ultimate has also been discontinued.
